IN JANUARY OF 2003, a member of the Out To Lunch Bunch in Nashville, Tennessee raised the idea of staging an event to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the first advertised Narcotics Anonymous meeting. He suggested that we invite speakers from around the country with specific knowledge of NA’s history and development. From the beginning, the intent was to preserve this history by recording it onto CD and making it available to anyone interested in learning about the growth of our fellowship. It was decided that a celebration of this magnitude would require more support than a homegroup could give, and a NA History Conference Sub-committee was created; this sub-committee would be accountable to both the Greater Nashville and Middle Tennessee Areas. Certain ideas have been important in developing this Conference from the beginning: to not use funds from the Seventh Tradition baskets of NA meetings; being open to various perspectives in an effortto present a well-rounded history; and that the conference recording be made available to any addict, anywhere in the world, regardless of their ability to pay. Since its inception in January of 2003, the NA History Conference Sub-committee has undergone many changes, both in its membership and its vision. In the end, however, it is the Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous that served to see the Conference through to fruition. Keep Coming Back! CARRY THE MESSAGE! WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO FREELY COPY THESE CDs AND SHARE THEM WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS.All material is public domain. Feel free to copy and distribute within NA.
